Dance and health

At the APdC we want dance and health to go hand in hand. The body is the professional dancer's main tool, both their own body as much as those of others that he/she works with. It is therefore imperative that the dance professional understands and looks after his/her anatomy well. Furthermore, dance can generate health (dance therapy, dance as a sport, etc). We consider health to be an integral part of all our training and information activities and in this vein create specific health-related courses.*

At the APdC we give special attention to the relationship between dance and health. As a result of this focus we have signed an agreement with the insurance company Privat Asesoramiento - Insurance Company, to help dance professionals access private medical health at a reasonable cost. This insurance company offers a health plan with the company SANITAS, that can provide patients with specialists in dance-related health issues in its medical directory. They offer a considerably reduced rate  (nearly 50% discount) for APdC members and their families. Privat is also familiar with the collective's needs and is open to incorporating new medical professionals that are specialised in dance and that have been recommended by outmembers.

We are also in contact with physiotherapy specialists that offer beneficial treatments and discounts to our associate members.
