Stategic Plan

The APdC's Strategic Plan defines the association's main plan of action and how it aims to position itself for the future. Where it wants to go and how it plans to get there. The association's general objectives are to unite the sector and analyse its needs; represent it and act as the sector's voice; improve working conditions; act as a political lobby; mediate between different agents in order to help push through adequate active policies and set up points of contact; support and facilitate the professional development of those within the profession; and guide, support and encourage initiatives that raise the profession's profile and reputation.

Since internal management was consolidated in 2006, the issues that have taken priority on the APdC's agenda regarding trade union actions include the establishment of a new labour agreement as well as the creation of the Catalan Dance Federation.

On a cultural level, efforts to consolidate projects have been made which, amongst other things, has prompted the start of a detailed analysis of the sector. This will be compared to the one carried out in 2003. Also, and using the Dance Manifesto of Catalonia as our basis, we are analysing the sector as a whole to determine the present situation, and pin-point weak areas and requirements whilst also making specific recommendations. New services for members, via the Internet, have also been put in place while efforts to promote the International Dance Day continue, in a bid to bring dance further in to the public arena.

Steps are being taken to resolve issues regarding the conversion of older qualifications, as part of its initiative in the field of education.

In the area of professional development, improvements made to legal and employment advice have been notable, while the coordination and communication of our technical training and maintenance classes for professionals has also improved.

We have also signed an agreement allowing our associate members to benefit from a Mutual Health Insurance Plan at a reduced rate, and have improved the services we offer in terms of information.

In recognition of these accomplishments, and to celebrate its 20th anniversary, the APdC would like to document its own history as well as that of dance in Catalonia in general.
