The Association of Dance Professionals of Catalonia (APdC) is a non-profit organisation with trade union characteristics, created in 1987 with the aim of gathering together all of Catalonia's dance professionals (dancers, choreographers, teachers, specialists in dance and health, producers and cultural managers, company managers and anyone whose professional activity is related to dance, including dance students) and defending their interests. Today we represent over 350 members before private and public institutions, we encourage and support initiatives to improve working conditions and help with their professional development.
Our overall mission is to create a cohesive and strong dance sector by boosting the profession's reputation, strengthening its presence in society and improving it's public recognition in general. With this in mind, one of the activities that we promote is the International Dance Day, a celebration that has become a significant event in the Catalan calendar. We want to gather together the sector's needs, concerns and worries so that we can then promote initiatives that work to resolve them, helping our members and the profession in general by cooperating with local entities (creative centres, schools and training centres, festivals and theatres etc.), encouraging culture in society and citizen's participation.
